To me, there is no better cookie than the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip. The chewy texture of the cookie paired with small pockets of melted chocolatey goodness just makes my mouth water. While oatmeal raisin cookies are highly overrated to me (sorry!) there is nothing better than the amazing OCC.
I found an easy recipe from Joy the Baker’s great website, and made quick work of the recipe. I added a little something special by including a pinch of cinnamon in the batter. YUM. These were chewy and delicious, and a definite “make again.”
I had a little more time than I thought, and tried my first attempt at baking with yeast. I have always been intimidated by yeast and kneading, but a quick look through the Mary Berry recipe for Walnut Raisin Bread made me confident that I could tackle the challenge.
The main difference between bread making and other baking is the amount of wait time. Making a loaf of bread takes a really long time because of the time you have to take to let it rest and rise.
My first attempt at bread was okay. The flavor was great (you can’t go wrong with walnuts and cinnamon) but it was definitely a little underbaked. A few more minutes in the oven would have made this recipe even better!
